  • Number of weeks: 1 Week

Day 1

Arrival at Lisbon airport and transfer to Sesimbra. Get refreshed from your journey and relax at this 5 star hotel on the ocean front. General briefing on the tour followed by a fantastic dinner at this traditional Portuguese fishing village.

Day 2

At breakfast you will receive general information about day 2. It’s then time to get on your bike and pedal to Tróia. We will leave Sesimbra along the 200 million year old Arrábida Natural Park, where after a thrilling downhill we will have lunch in a remote sumptuous beach, arrive at the city of Setúbal where to visit the emblematic market and the 15th Century Church of Jesus. We will then take the ferry to the Tróia Peninsula – an enormous strip of golden sand, with miles of wonderful deserted beaches, vast stretches of dunes and a pine forest. Relax in the design luxury hotel that we’ve chosen for you.

Day 3

At breakfast you will receive general information about day 3. The day begins as you hop on your bikes and leave Tróia through the dunes and pine forest, with a stop-over at the Romans ruins - the largest salted fish production complex known in the occidental part of the Roman Empire. When reaching Comporta we will visit the 30 hectares (74 acres) of vineyards, situated in a valley of sandy soil, slightly over sea level in the middle of a nature reserve. Following this visit we will go down to the cellars and taste one of the finest Alentejo wines. On the way to the medieval city of Santiago do Cacém passing through lovely landscapes you will marvel at the scenic splendour of the ocean touching the shore, majestically blending the blue of the sea and the green of the landscape. We will stop off for lunch along one of the pristine Blue Coast beaches. At the end of the day, a unique design hotel, with overwhelming views to the medieval city, will be awaiting us.

Day 4

At breakfast you will receive general information on day 4. Leaving Santiago do Cacém, we will start our journey with a smooth and breezy downhill dash into the cork trees woods of Alentejo, to enter the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. Here you will discover a genuine seventh heaven made up of almost only deserted beaches, cliffs and crags amidst exceptionally rich biodiversity and unique geological heritage. Among the 750 plants and 200 species of birds that have been identified throughout the area of the Natural Park there are a few worth mentioning like the White Stork, Bonelli’s Eagle, Peregrine Falcon or the felines such as the Fox or the Iberian Linx. We will be spending the night at this true masterpiece of Nature, in an extraordinary and welcoming cotton white decorated country house, surrounded by the Ecological Reserve.

Day 5

At breakfast you will receive general information on day 5. On this day we will be pedalling through the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. This Park, with more than 100 Km in length, is the largest stretch of protected Portuguese coastline, and we have made a special effort to prepare the tour for your best enjoyment. We are cycling along a 38 Km flat terrain stage, with spectacular views over the seashore and smooth breezes along the cliffs overlooking the magnificent sandy beaches and estuaries. This will be followed by a surprise lunch. After an easy afternoon relaxing on the beach, we will spend the night in Zambujeira do Mar, at a modern chill-out oriented country house, with large views over the Monchique mountains and the Atlantic Ocean; we call it Seventh Heaven.

Day 6

At breakfast you will receive general information on day 6. We are determinate to continue our epic journey along one of the most unspoiled coasts of Europe. We will visit the fishing village of Odeceixe and its dazzling beach with a natural river estuary. A little further south we will be passing the village of Aljezur located in a lush, green valley, well known for its sweet potatoes. Although a bit higher, the 10th Century Moorish Castle is a “must see” and has one of the most fantastic views of the Portuguese southwest region. We will then see a well preserved 20th Century flour windmill. With the sightseeing, fields and panoramic views, we then reach our days’ final well deserved destination: a rural setting of comfort, care and modernity.

Day 7

At breakfast you will receive general information on day 7. As we come close to the end of tour, you will realize that we have saved the best for last. From here, we will be heading for Sagres, the southernmost point in Portugal, where the Portuguese sailors learned how to sail the Caravel in the 15th Century, and discovered new Worlds. Lunch will be at the port, with lovely views onto the Atlantic Ocean.
